Content Marketing: Why?

Feb 27, 2012, Written by Sue Miley

Content marketing gave me a foot into sales. Why?

I don’t like selling myself, yet, when I went into business for myself, I received the same advice from everyone….people connect to people….you have to sell you…you are your product!

Then I learned about content marketing and thought….I can share good content….I can share my thoughts and experience….I want to help people and if providing them with information helps them and me too…..

Content marketing is where I have been for the past 3 years. This weekend I found some wonderful info graphics shared by Copyblogger. My favorite, below, was the info graphic on content marketing!

This is from content plus.co.uk and they provided code to share it!

The biggest truth to me is that content marketing introduces me, my thoughts, my style to potential clients and give them a feel as to whether or not we would work well together. I want to work with people who fit. I think they deserve it. I believe more is accomplished and giving them a glimpse of this connection in advance is a plus for all!

Which fact below resonates with you? I would love to hear your comments!

Sue.. I’m not as good at describing “content marketing” as you are, but it’s what we practice. We’re techie nerds, so a lot of our content is simply to share technical insights.. by doing that, I stumbled into getting us at the top of google’s search pages on most of the areas where we provide services and equipment.

I sent your link to a friend of mine, a pretty well known sales consultant, that wrote a book which supports your ideas very well. Look up “Unselling: How to Sell Less and Win More’ by Peter Bourke. ( I think its a free e book download on Amazon. )

I’m enjoying reading your stuff.. keep it up..
