My Ideal Christian Business Coach

Feb 24, 2011, Written by Sue Miley

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could find someone who could help you run your business without having to give them half the company, or a huge salary, or give up your own way of doing things?

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a person to encourage you to step out in faith and trust God to do really big things through you and to even gently nudge you when you begin to think it is all about you?

Wouldn’t it be incredible if this person was around over time so they knew the history, the good, the bad and the ugly?  Someone you didn’t have to start all over with and relive the bad and the ugly in the telling of the story!

And, wouldn’t it be invaluable, if this person walking along side you knew stuff about business, life, and people to provide a wise word, to know what to pray for you about, and to provide resources, when even they couldn’t figure it out?

This is what I want in a coach.

I don’t really want to have a business coach, and a life coach, and a counselor.  I want it all.  I know it is part of the world we live in….one electronic gadget to do everything…one coach to do it all!

I Can Hear My Ideal Coach In My Head

This is what they would tell me:

I am going to help you figure out your passion, vision, and mission…..yours’; the one God has given to you!

I am going to share with you how I came up with policies and procedures in many different companies.   (Of course, if you read my last blog post about not having a daily backup, you will know I still need this coach too!)

I throw on my marriage counseling hat when your spouse says it’s getting too difficult….

or my career coaching hat when your child is about to enter college…..

and I will send a couple of entertaining texts your way to help cut through the boredom of the 15 hour cross-country move to start your new job.

But, don’t worry, I am going to refer you to an expert who I think matches you, when an issue or opportunity comes up that I don’t have a clue about; yet, you can still count on me to follow-up and to keep praying for the issue!

This is the what I want from coaching.

This is the kind of coach I want to be!

I can already tell you’re a great coach. You’re more of a pastor with greater-than-sermon-knowledge. You’re “dream coach” is what we’re attempting to do with our church plant. We need people like you to release others to their God-dreams…. maybe I can get you to train them?

It is in this soul and with assistance from the phrase of God, that I will try to motivate my other business owners and company people and Management to show and exercise company values that the world would want to replicate.
