Prayer For Business Owners in Difficult Times

prayer for business

As a Christian business owner, I pray about my business a lot.  I know we sometimes feel it is a selfish prayer to ask for help in our business, even in difficult times.  But my understanding is that we are to pray without ceasing and to come to the Lord with our petitions, and to me, that includes my business.

I admit that I am pretty laser-focused in my prayers.  I will pray for specifics, however, I usually include thanks, a prayer request, a plea to get me and my control-self out of the way, and in the end, a prayer for His will.

A Prayer For Business Owners

Here is the type of prayer I would say in general for my business.

Lord, thank you so much for my business.  I know, just like everything else, even my business comes from You.  Help me to follow Your ways in my work so that I can honor You and glorify You.

Things are hard at times Lord, but I know You don’t promise us easy.  I just pray, Lord, that when things are difficult, I can be a Godly leader.  I pray I will not be overcome by fear and worry.  I pray that I will stay the course and trust that the vision I have for my business is Your vision.  I will try to treat others I encounter, be it staff, vendors, or customers, with love, respect, and integrity.

But, Lord, I can’t do it in my own strength, only in Yours.

I pray, Lord, that I can show perseverance and be a light to others.  I know you call us to be a city on a hill.  I pray that our business can set an example that by following You, even in the market place, that we will have an advantage.

I pray, Lord, that as I claim your promises from Matthew 6:26…

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

…that I can lay down the worry that Satan wants to plant in my mind and stray me from your path.

Lord, times are difficult, but I will stand strong and wait on you, Lord.  Thank you for being here for me when fear threatens my resolve.  I pray, Lord, that Your will be done, because I know that You love me and Your will is what is best.

I pray these things in Jesus great name,

Amen

Right now, I am also lifting up all who are reading this and praying God will show you His power, grace and mercy over and in your business.

Amen, on & on, to all the foregoing curt prayers w/c were given by humble and inspired brethren. All what I’d like to petition to you my Lord, God, and Savior were already expressed by them. It seems we’re on the same boat trying to thrive & succeed in the respective businesses we’ve engaged in.Thank you Almighty LORD for believing and trusting in you completely. Cheers!

  9. Jim Harper says

I have reached the point where my faith has been slipping. I an a believing Judeo- Christian and have operated three businesses over the past 35 or so years, and have learned that businesses always have a beginning, a middle and an end. As a general rule I have been a Lone Eagle type of Entrepreneur, I have supported my family, sent my kids to school and pressed onward; but now I am beaten down and see my failings only too well. (As they say, hindsight is always 20-20.) That’s just the way of things now. My present business seems to be falling apart now after a total of 13 years – it is really frustrating, but I am now 70 years old and don’t have as much steam as before. Things are dissolving and my creditors are hounding me for resources I don’t presently have. Fortunately its only my wife and myself now, and I suppose I will be driving a taxi or something similar soon if things really go down the toilet. I have enjoyed being self employed and the life style of entrepreneurial freedom but when things head south, it becomes a major mental
millstone that is hard to shed, just at the time when you have to look around for options and as Eldridge Cleaver wrote so many years ago ” pull your balls out of the sand”

Well, enough whining for now. I trust that Jehovah God will show me what my future path is. As Winston Churchill wrote, ” Success is going from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm!” The worst that can happen is that I fail one more time after giving things my best shot. My name is Jim, and I would ask for the prayers of anybody who reads this missive.

  10. Victoria says

God will come through for you in your business like he’s always done. Trust the process and keep on keeping on. Things will be way better soon.
