The Anxiety Epidemic

Anxiety and stress are epidemic in America and the business world is one of the main suppliers!  I want to share with you a post from my new site CrossRoadCounselor.com titled Why Am I So Anxious?

The excerpt below may hit close to home, but read the full post for some solutions to finding the underlying cause of your anxiety.

Most of us just mask the symptoms and over time grow weary from having to combat this enemy.  Our goal is to help you find and work on the root cause to be free from it for good!

An excerpt from the middle:

Hiding Behind Anger

“If one more person barges into my office, someone’s head is going to roll!” you scream at your unsuspecting secretary as she comes in to bring you coffee.

“I know you are nervous about the huge turnaround” she begins.

But you cut her off and exclaim “It isn’t the turnaround, it is the idiots who work here and can’t do anything without asking first.  If I have to touch everything, I might as well do it myself!”

As the secretary silently exits you secretly worry that you may be doing every thing on your own because 3 key people have quit in the last two months.

My original answer was going to be that there really is very little of it in my life, but your “most of us just mask the symptoms” made me rethink this.

It’s true that I worry very little about most things in my life going poorly. I’ve come to accept that God is in control and He has demonstrated it in my life enough for me to rest soundly on that knowledge.

Two character faults have plagued me most of my life though – perfectionism and procrastination. I’ve come to realize (and still working on accepting) that these usually have their roots in anxiety and fear.

I seek God more and more in the smaller areas of my life where these traits show up the most. I’m working on my disciplines to eliminate these flaws and to allow God to reveal Himself giving me that same faith I have in Him for the bigger issues.
