In less than a month of existence Google + has certainly taken up a ton of internet air space. There are many social media experts that have written their assessment and the benefits of Google + as a social media platform.
I am not a social media expert.
I don’t know all of the business reasons.
This is personal. It’s selfish!
To Me Social Media Is All About The People
I want to connect with my friends, colleagues and business acquaintances on Google+ ….not just the social media experts! I know it is in it’s BETA phase. Things will change. Hopefully, only for the better!
But it is so cool now. Really!
As a platform it is really great. It does what Facebook, Twitter, and Linked In do and, in many aspects, it does it better or easier.
But Google+ is nothing without you!
Google+ Incredible Features
I love the way they do circles (lists). It is so much easier to send appropriate content and communication to people who want it and need it. And spare the people that don’t!
I can share pictures and personal stuff with family only, just like FB, but it is so much easier and you can see who you sent what to.
It also has the feel of twitter and the ease of following others who are a great source of information to you, without having to get accepted. I don’t know about you, but I hate to bother some big wig in a certain industry. I want to quietly learn from them. If they don’t want me to learn from them, then on Google+ they only publish a post to their own private circles.
It works both ways for everyone.
But what makes Facebook important to me……what makes Twitter engaging….what makes LinkedIn resourceful………
is YOU!
Google+ Consolidates My Social Media Platform Needs
Okay, I can’t help it. I have to throw my two cents in. If YOU were on Google+, it could probably consolidate my need for the other three platforms. Google+ would be the hub. It is a combination of the three other main social networking experiences.
But, again…it will never be anything except another platform……without YOU!
Will you join me on Google+ http://tinyurl.com/3tcbd4h.
P.S. Let me know in the comment section if you need an invite. I am not sure how it works but I still have some!
Thanks for sending me an invite! I’ve got you in a circle now 🙂
I am just getting into G+, but I do think I prefer Twitter’s required brevity.
I’m glad you are here! I have seen some people writing books over here, but others use it like twitter. We will see if it catches on…because to me, without people it doesn’t really matter!
Okay, Sue. I’m thinking about it. I am so lame because I don’t like taking the ten minutes or whatever to set these things up. But a few of you are nudging to experiment, so maybe this weekend I will fool around with it.
So maybe I’ll see you on Google+ then… 🙂
Hey Brad, Yes I have put you in the search engines more than once….you aren’t there. It really didn’t take much to set up! Hope to see you soon over there.
Hard to join you on G+, S_Miley, since you’re not giving up your name. The link takes me to privacy settings. I love your topic (Christian business), but don’t know who you are. I’m Donald Sturgill on G+ (and everywhere else). See you there?
Donald and Marissa, I guess I haven’t figured out the appropriate link to my G+ profile! I found both of you though. Glad to connect with you on Google +!!
I have tried to add you, but the link takes me to my home page. Please add me.
